Before you fill a tank…

Helium cylinders are high-pressure gas. Transport upright, strapped/secured, and out of heat. Some suppliers only do exchanges (you swap for a full cylinder). Others refill the exact tank you bring. If your bottle is from a disposable party kit or stamped as property of another rental program, ask first — a lot of shops legally can’t refill those.

Are you a helium supplier?

If you fill, exchange, or rent helium — even pickup-only or weekends — you should be listed here. Basic listings are free. “Verified” and “Featured” slots are for shops we’ve talked to directly.

Helium refill FAQs

How many 11″ balloons can a tank fill?

Rule-of-thumb: an 11″ latex balloon uses ~0.48 ft³ of helium.

Tank size (ft³) Approx. 11″ balloons
14.9≈ 30
20≈ 40
40≈ 83
60≈ 125
80≈ 166
125≈ 260
150≈ 312
250≈ 520

Actual counts vary with pressure, temperature, regulator, and waste.

Will shops refill my own helium tank?
A lot will, but not all. We mark “accepts owned tanks” when a shop confirms they’ll refill or exchange a customer-owned cylinder. Always call first.
Can I rent a helium tank for a weekend party?
Yes. Some welding suppliers / party rental companies loan tanks short-term for birthdays, grand openings, pep rallies, etc.
Do places refill disposable party tanks?
Usually no. Those disposable cylinders aren’t designed to be refilled. Most shops won’t refill them. Look for rental or exchange instead.
Refill vs. exchange — what’s the difference?
Exchange: you hand them your empty tank for a full one (fast). Refill: they top off the same bottle (not everyone does this). Call ahead and ask what’s available today.

Safety: Cylinders are high-pressure. Transport upright, valve capped, and secured; keep out of heat; never inhale helium.
